Medusa

Medusa is a tearing apart of patriarchal and colonial storytelling through sonics, ritual and witchcraft.

Created by myself, Julia Croft and Virginia Frankovich with sonic elements by Claire Duncan

With a head of poisonous snakes and a murderous gaze, Medusa has come to epitomise female monstrosity. Caravaggio painted her. Shakespeare wrote about her. Freud had a bloody field day.

A new work of dissection and dissent on female bodies, female violence and female rage. With Medusa as our muse, and Jill Soloway as our spiritual guide, Medusa is a blood boiler, a stealthy deconstruction, and one of feminism’s great reclamations.

“Emotional anarchy, comedic, purgative, liberating…I am profoundly grateful I got to experience it.” — Theatreview
